Visit Agate Falls in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula
Michigan’s upper peninsula is bursting with scenery. You will run into something beautiful no matter which direction you drive. Suppose that direction is about seven miles southeast of Bruce Crossing. In that case, you find yourself right next to a spectacular waterfall.
Agate Falls Scenic Site is located off Michigan Highway 28. It’s over a half-mile round-trip hike to the waterfall. There is little elevation gain. The roadside park is off the beaten path. I would not expect to see a ton of other people. That’s a great thing! You have a fantastic chance of enjoying the falls all by yourself.
The falls are nearly 40 feet high and located on the middle branch of the Ontonagon River. Agate Falls is widely considered one of Michigan’s most scenic waterfalls. An old railroad bridge goes over the falls, adding a unique photography perspective.
Agate Falls is definitely worth your time if you are in the area. It is a short hike with big rewards.
